The Dallas Art Museum launch online the exhibit “For a Dreamer of Houses” and is amazing! We invite you to go to their website and enjoy this great work, as they explained, “an imaginative and immersive exhibition which explores the significance of the spaces we inhabit and how they represent ourselves, our values, and our desires.”
With over fifty works from the DMA’s collection in a variety of media they invite all of us to experience “the evocative power of domestic objects and structures. The featured artists use forms derived from dwellings or furnishings to investigate ideas including belonging, alienation, fantasy, gender, and the body.”
In the concept they mentioned the inspiration from the philosopher Gaston Bachelard’s influential 1958 book The Poetics of Space, “its organization corresponds to five chapters that consider the psychological importance of homes. Major recent acquisitions—including works by Alex Da Corte, Olivia Erlanger, EJ Hill, Francisco Moreno, Pipilotti Rist, and Do Ho Suh—are highlighted in each section.”
So how our personal space reflects ourselves? We invite you all to explore this impeccable online experience and enjoy the curator talk, videos and even behind the scenes to reflect about our space and identity.
Congratulations to the DMA for this project and keeping the art community closer to them during this time ❤
